Animal ID: 1631James (male)

Cavalier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

James is a two-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mix who will bring much joy to his forever family. This little boy is perfect for someone who is looking to have a companion to be at your side and keep you company. He enjoys cuddles and having his tummy rubbed and his fur is super soft. He loves going for rides in the car and especially loves going for walks. James is extremely agile and athletic! We think he may be part border collie. He can jump into your arms without you even having to bend down and we joke that he would be perfect in an agility competition! James is crate trained and up to date on all of his vaccinations. James ... (Read More)is loving to his family, but he has displayed fear of strangers. We would not recommend him for a house with young kids (12+) or cats, but he does great with other dogs and loves to play and run around the yard. If you are interested in finding out more about James, please fill out an (a href='http://www.brokentailrescue.org/adoption-application/')application(/a). James is being fostered in Walpole. Rescue Me ID: 16-05-21-00157Roxanne (female)

American Bulldog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Hi! My name is Roxanne. I am estimated to be 3 years old and weigh about 51 lbs.. The best word to describe me is Exuberant! I just love people and attention. I get so excited that I jump up to greet friends, forgetting that although I am not tall, I am a sturdy girl. My foster mom tells me I am built like a tank. She is working hard to teach me not to jump up and I am starting to understand that my people will be happier to see me if I don't act like a battering ram. That same excitement extends to going for walks. When I see that leash I get so excited that I run in circles. Kind of hard to get a leash on a moving target. Once ... (Read More)on the leash, I pull! I will need continued training to learn to curb my enthusiasm. All that aside, in the house I am an awesome girl. I am house and crate trained, quiet and non-destructive. My idea of paradise is lying on a dog bed or rolling in the grass. I am good with other dogs and cats. I just want to love and be loved. I have an excellent appetite. I love my food and peanut butter is a favorite treat. I am completing a course of antibiotics as I tested positive for Lyme disease. I suck my capsules right down when they are rolled in a little peanut butter. I have been spayed (no more puppies for me) and am up to date on my vaccinations. Unfortunately my past medical care was not what it should have been. Because of this I have Heartworm Disease. When I finish my antibiotics for Lyme, I will need to undergo treatment for the Heartworm Disease. After this treatment, I will need to be on strict exercise restrictions (leash walks only) and crate rest so that I can recover and be the healthy girl I deserve to be. My dream is to find an owner who is health conscious and will see to it that I receive the care I need. I will reward this person with unconditional love and happy wiggles for the rest of my days. Believe me you would never know by looking at me that there is anything wrong with me at all. I have a lot of energy, I just tire out quickly. A forever home is something I want more than anything. I love my foster parents but I want my very own people. If the right person does not come along, I will need to stay in foster care for the length of my treatment and recovery (several months probably). You could not hope to find a more lovable girl than me. Please think about adding me to your family. You will be doing a wonderful thing for yourself and me plus freeing up a foster home to rescue another deserving dog. Can't wait to meet you!     Meet Elroy! He's a 7 pound, 2 year old Chestnut colored Chihuahua. Elroy loves to cuddle, and walks nicely on leash. He also knows how to sit and takes treats nicely. We think one of his best quality is his happy smile. Elroy is good with most small dogs, although he can be a little pushy at times, he thinks he's bigger! He has behaved beautifully in his foster home with the other dogs. He is very playful, he loves to sleep on giant dog beds, play with toys, and chase his foster mom.     Meet handsome Murphy! Murphy is a five-year-old, sixty (60) pound Mastiff pittie mix who is as adorable as he is photogenic! Murphy is a charmer who makes fast friends with everyone he meets; truly Murphy loves all people. His tail is always wagging so he would do best in a home with children ten and older who won't be knocked down by the enthusiastic love for life his swishing tail shows. Though Murphy enjoys the company of other dogs, he can be initially shy, and need some time to warm up to them. Murphy would be happy to share his home with a laid-back female canine companion, tho his ideal home would not include cats. Murphy is house ... Rescue Me ID: 15-07-31-00358Pumba (male)

Irish Wolfhound Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Pumba is an adorable 7 year old Shep-a-Doodle (Shepard and Poodle mix). He's a lot like Pumba from The Lion King; he has an incredible underbite and had long hair on his back with short hair on the sides! One difference is our Pumba is a perfect 35lbs! Pumba is currently making wonderful strides in a board and train program with a local trainer. He is working on many of his fears and doing great. Part of the problem is that Pumba is too smart for his own good! Pumba's adopter will need to continue to work with him post adoption. But don't worry a training plan is in place and his trainer is available to help out! If he could talk ... (Read More)we're pretty sure this is how he'd describe himself: "Hi! I'm Pumba and have a lot of love to give a new family. I love to cuddle, play outside and will follow you around everywhere. I'm not really a morning dog and love sleeping in. But if you tell me we can go on a walk, it doesn't matter what time of day it is (Although, my foster mom says I have to work on my leash manners - I just can't wait to go go go!). I know how to sit and stay, down, wait, leave it, and drop it. My ideal home would be a place with few distractions where someone is with me a lot so we can hang out. I'm definitely a ladies man. But with some time I could learn to love a male in the household too. It'll just take some patience, they make me a little nervous. I am very loyal and will make someone very happy. Oh, and one more thing - I love my stuffed animal friends! My training is going very well. The greatest issue that I am working to overcome is meeting new people. I LOVE my family and friends who I am comfortable with, but I am having a hard time with new people. I really do not like to have strangers touching me, although I will gently take a treat from the person. The same goes for dogs, I do not like my space invaded by a dog that I do not know, but I am perfectly fine with the dogs in my foster home. My adopter will be required to stay in touch with my trainer and to continue to follow my training plan. I am an amazing companion and promise to be loyal to you forever. I really need an experienced owner so that my life and my adopters and the best possible! If you would like to donate to my training please visit our Paypal page by clicking on "donate" link.
